The welcome basket we received upon checking into our luxury villa at Pacific Sands Beach Resort contained some of my favourite indulgences: chocolate, cheese, and white wine -a curious gift for two pregnant women. But it made sense, since the Babymoon Bliss package is designed for couples [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] wanting to spend some romantic time together, before their new baby makes dirty diapers and sleepless nights the norm -needless to say neither my girlfriend Sue nor I would be opening the wine.
Full disclosure: My husband bailed -he had bathroom renovations to do that weekend, so I asked Sue who is seven months pregnant to take his place on this much needed respite to Tofino. There would be no romance, just some relaxing girl time, and being eight months pregnant, I was fine with that.Putting the wine aside, I was thankful for the box of gourmet chocolates [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] from Tofino Chocolate -one of Tofino's premier chocolatiers. There was dark chocolate and milk chocolate Hazelnut crispy logs, a wildflower honey ganache, a Grand Marnier caramel, a lemon cream vanilla bean, passion fruit whipped milk chocolate, mint truffle and a strawberry butter cream starfish. The difficult choice was which one to sample first.
But before making that decision we wanted to check out all three levels of the beachfront villa. We were impressed with the 12-foot ceilings and wooden beams, the fully-equipped kitchen stocked with teas and coffee. A separate dining area, an entertainment centre, powder room, living room [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] with gas fireplace, and a deck facing the ocean completed the ground floor.The second floor was taken up by a large bedroom with two queen-size beds, a TV and a spacious full bathroom.The third level, which I claimed, was exquisite with its high-ceiling bedroom, king bed, wooden beams, gas fireplace, TV, an outdoor deck, a full bathroom and a raised doublesoaker tub overlooking the beach.
