The Harvey Wallbanger was one of the most famous and popular cocktails of the 1970s. It became such a cultural icon that in the 1972 presidential election, there were thousands of write-in votes for Harvey Wallbanger. There's even a national holiday - November 5th is Harvey Wallbanger Day.

Combine the vodka and orange juice in a cocktail shaker and blend briefly. Strain over ice into a highball glass,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and float the Galliano on top. Garnish with an orange slice.

It’s impossible to prove the legend of the Harvey Wallbanger, but the story should be true,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], even if it isn’t. The story goes that Los Angeles mixologist Donato ‘Duke’ Antone had a regular customer named Harvey, who was a fanatical surger. Harvey came into Duke’s bar one evening depressed about losing an important competition, and consoled himself with Duke’s delicious cocktail. More than one of them,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], actually. Enough of them that at evening’s end, when he tried to make his way to the exit, Harvey stumbled and bumped into everything, even the wall. Harvey the Wallbanger became his new nickname, and the name was given to the cocktail as well.
