Top Coach of [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Teams
This probably is a good time to buy a Kyle Orton jersey. I think D.J. could be gone, but I'm not inside the next coach's head yet [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].(Source From: [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] )
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Rick Dennison has been interviewed by the time you read this. I believe he is the favorite at this point, based on his years of playing and coaching with the Broncos. I wrote last Sunday my choice would be Ron Rivera as head coach, with Dennison as assistant head coach/offensive coordinator. Rivera has taken the head coaching job with Carolina. I would favor Dennison if he brings a high-profile defensive coordinator with him.
Woody, Does him the only Broncos fan wondering why we don't interview Rick Dennison? keeps hearing about is Jim Harbaugh. In my mind Dennison should be our coach period! If Denver wants a smart, tough, hard-nosed team let's bring Rick back. What do you think? [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Hey Woody! With the exception of Jim Harbaugh, I'm not exactly blown away by the names on the Broncos short list of coaching candidates. What's your take on Rick Dennison? He's a bright guy, has tremendous experience on both sides of the ball and has a long track record with this organization. I know the Broncos interviewed him two years ago but is there even a slim chance he could get another look? [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] (Source From: [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] )
I am curious as to why we haven't heard Rick Dennison's name mentioned when Broncos coaching candidates are discussed. He was brought up in the Broncos system and has done an outstanding job as Houston's offensive coordinator. Another name not being mentioned is Tony Dungy. He's a brilliant head coach and defensive mind as well as being on record as a Tebow supporter. I appreciate any answers you may have [link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
The feeling was that the Broncos wanted to see how Champ would play this year before putting an offer back on the table, and that they also could keep him by giving him the franchise tag (which could still happen).
It sounds to me like the Broncos are willing to let him go. I haven't been told that specifically; it's, as I said, a feeling ― which I hope is either a mistaken belief or an opinion John Elway has that he will change soon.
You cannot take an equivalent job in the NFL as an assistant, so it would have to be a defensive coordinator who is named assistant head coach. Who will do that? Maybe Perry Fewell (who was interviewed) if there's a significant increase in salary. I don't think Dom Capers would come here as a coordinator. Dave Wannstedt's name has been mentioned for several jobs, and he was an exceptional coordinator before being a head coach in both the pros and the colleges, but has been away from the NFL for too long,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I believe.
I'll give you a name ― Larry Coyer, the defensive coordinator with the Colts. Wait ― he was here before. And if you look at what he did with the Broncos, you could submit that he shouldn't have been fired, and maybe Mike Shanahan would have kept his job if he had kept Coyer, who still lives in a Denver suburb in the off-season. Coyer and his wife loved Denver, and I think he'd return to the Broncos under the right circumstances. He coached with Dennison (and again, would have to be named assistant head coach).
Coyer really wasn't Shanahan's type ― a pipe-smoking, older, professorial type. But, then, Shanahan didn't get along with most of his coordinators because he wanted to coach the defense, too. Would Mike Nolan return? Probably only as head coach. The Broncos brass probably won't go along with him because they believe that even though his defense started strong last season,

it tailed off badly at the end of the season,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and Nolan "got sloppy," I've been told.
If you can't get a defensive coordinator, I'd look at the best defensive teams in the league and take the No. 2 guys. I still believe Tim Lewis, who was considered for several head coaching jobs a few years ago and has been a defensive coordinator, would deserve a strong look. And if John Fox can't get another head coaching job, and more than likely won't, I'd hire him to be the coordinator on defense. (Source From: [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] )
