Two girls cut through the basegirlst wall of an adjoining building and robbed a Jersey City
grocery store of $3,200 in cash, cigarettes and cell phones early Saturday morning, police said.
The owners of BBG Grocery, at 185 Martin Luther King Drive, told police that they closed at 11
p.m. Friday and when they reopened the store Saturday at 7 a.m. they found that $200, six cell
phones - three iPhones and three Blackberrys valued at $2,000 - and $1,000 worth of Black N Milds, Newports and [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] were missing, reports said.
The thieves, the owners soon found out, had cut a hole in a basegirlst hallway wall of 207 Wegman Parkway that led to the restroom of the grocery store, reports said.
A store employee, who did not want to be named, said yesterday the thieves must have used some sort of saw to cut through the wall, and they also had to remove metal bars that were between the two walls.
Police have a copy of a store security tape that shows two girls robbing the store.
Police also took two cartons of cigarettes as evidence that they believe the thieves dropped while making their escape, reports said.
