This week has been marked by a string of armed robberies—including one Tuesday night on Chestnut Street involving a man demanding cash at gunpoint.
Police said the black man, who fled on foot, is wanted for two other recent armed robberies.
The incident comes on the heels of another armed robbery on Monday night at the Golden Chinese restaurant on Grove Street.

In yet another armed robbery, on Jan. 28, an armed robbery was reported on Washington Street. The victim, who arrived at headquarters with his girlfriend, said he was dropping his girlfriend off on Washington Street shortly after midnight, but that she had forgotten her keys and was in the man’s car attempting to call her roommate.

DEP Responds to Gas Accident
On Saturday, Jan. 22, 10:30 a.m., a Heller??s Gas truck, operated by Thomas Brehmer, 48, of Williamsport, was traveling west on State Route 184. For unknown reason, Brehmer lost control of the 3200 gallon tank truck while descending a hill and negotiating a left hand curve in the roadway, said Trooper Jeffrey A. Vilello. The truck slid sideways, causing the driver side of the vehicle to enter the east bound lane of Route 184. As the vehicle rotated 180 degrees,

, it traveled across the west bound lane, slid off the roadway, traveled over an embankment and rolled onto the driver side of the vehicle before reaching final rest facing northeast. The vehicle was used to transport propane, and at the time of the crash, the tank was approximately 60 percent full. An unknown amount of propane was released, which caused the evacuation of residents within a half mile of the accident site, as well as closure of Route 184 and connecting roads (Wolfe Run Road and Post Road). The PA Department of Environmental Protection personnel responded to the scene and assisted with air monitoring at the site. After the scene was determined to be safe, Bressler??s Towing worked to remove the vehicle from the scene so the roadway could be opened and residents could return to their homes.
Fire personnel from Trout Run, Hepburn Township and Morris assisted with traffic control and evacuation of residents. The area was reopened approximately at 3:30 p.m., said Vilello.
Disorderly Conduct by Two in Williamsport
On Thursday, Jan. 20, 3:15 a.m., Taite Michael Thomas, 22, of 1208 Crestview Drive, Williamsport, and George Fredrick Hammond II, 35, of 2316 Armstrong Road, Aransas Pass, San Patricio, Texas, urinated on the front side walk of Denny??s. The restaurant is located at 1716 East 3rd Street, Williamsport. Both were issued non-traffic citations for summary crimes code violation of disorderly conduct.

Wallet Stolen from Vehicle Parked in Williamsport
Between the hours of 4 p.m. Jan. 18 and 9:15 a.m. Jan. 19, an unknown person entered the unlocked vehicle and removed a wallet belonging to Joseph P. Mancine, 69, of 1300 Rural Avenue, Williamsport. The thief then fled the scene and attempted to use a credit card of the victim at a convenience store on two separate occasions, said Trooper Doebler. Anyone with information is asked to contact PSP Montoursville at 570-368-5700.
A black man approached the driver’s side of the car and lifted up the side of his coat, exposing a black handgun concealed in his waistband. The suspect then knocked on the car’s window and the driver lowered the window. The suspect told the man, “Give me your money.” The man reached into his pocket and surrendered a $20 bill to the suspect. The suspect replied, “We’re gonna try this again. Give me your money.” The female then handed $50 to her boyfriend, who handed it over to the suspect. The suspect then calmly walked from the scene and was last seen heading west on Washington Street towards Hartley Street. The man then decided to drive the woman to his home.
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black man, approximately 6’0”,

On Jan. 26 at about 11:50 a.m., an employee at Kings Supermarket reported a shoplifting to police. The employee said a woman had entered the store on Jan. 16 and proceeded to bring 60 items to the courtesy counter. She then asked for two cartons of

, valued at $88.99 each. The woman then placed the two cartons of cigarettes in her bag, but told the cashier that she had forgotten her debit card in her car. The female then went to her car and left without paying for the cigarettes.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic female in her mid 20s with long brown hair, olive skin, approximately 5’5” and 125 lbs. She was last seen wearing a white jacket and holding a black bag. The car? that she fled the scene in is described as a white Honda Civic.

Drug Arrest

, someone reported a suspicious car parked near the dead end portion of Bruce Road in Upper Montclair. The person told police that a red car had been parked in teh same spot, idling, for about an hour. Upon arrival, police located a red Mazda MPV minivan occupied by four people. Police also noticed the odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the car.
The driver, a 17-year-old Upper Montclair resident, rolled down the driver’s side window and police observed what appeared to be a mixture of marijuana and ashes on his lap. Police also noticed a Gatorade bottle in the rear seat between two passengers that was found to contain two partially smoked marijuana cigarettes. Further investigation revealed a bag in the center console to the vehicle that contained two ceramic pipes, a smaller bag of marijuana, and a box of rolling papers. As a result of the investigation, all four occupants were placed under arrest.
The driver was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued a motor vehicle summons for violations of a provisional driver’s license. He was later turned over to his parents.
