A man died after he was crushed in a concrete mixer in Parow in the Western Cape on Friday, paramedics JS Concrete Mixer said.ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said the man,LIFEBOAT INSPECTION, in his early forties, was instructed to clean a concrete mixer - a task he carried out regularly. "A lack of communication of some sort led to the piece of machinery being turned on whilst the man was inside it still cleaning the mechanism, " Visser said.When paramedics arrived on the scene, the man JS Concrete Mixer remained trapped in the machine. He sustained "fatal crushing injuries" to his upper body and was declared dead on the scene.It is the second incident in the Western Cape in a month in which a worker was killed in a concrete mixer. On February 23, two men were cleaning a machine at a concrete lintel factory near Vissershoek JS Concrete Mixer when it "suddenly" switched on, causing them to fall into it.The men called for help, but by the time they were pulled from the machine they had already sustained serious injuries.
